Mission & History

On March 12th 1971, the Illinois Community College Faculty Association was chartered by the IJCB (Illinois Junior College Board) as the IJFAC (Illinois Junior College Faculty Association). It was to serve with equal standing and equal say, along with the Student and Trustee Associations on state-wide matters affecting higher education. In 1973 "Junior Colleges" became "Community Colleges” and we are now the ICCFA.

Today, the Illinois Community College Faculty Association serves as the faculty arm and in an advisory capacity to the Illinois Community College Board. We are the collective voice of the faculty from our 48 community colleges.

The ICCFA is looking to become a robust resource for all faculty of the 48 Illinois Community Colleges. At this time, we are working on improving our work in three key areas:

• Professional Development for Faculty and our Executive Board.
• Advocacy for what we believe is best for students in matters affecting Higher Education.
• Outreach to help connect the dots between the ICCFA, faculty, students, and other relevant higher education organizations.
